SmartList To Go Plug-Ins
What's a Plug-In?
Along with basic field types of Text, Integer, Date, etc., SmartList To Go includes a special field type called Plug-In. This field type allows SmartLists to make use of capabilities beyond what is provided by SmartList To Go. These extended capabilities are provided by add-on applications called Plug-Ins.
What can a Plug-In do?
Plug-Ins can extend the features built into SmartList To Go in many ways. For example, Plug-Ins can:
- Allow users to integrate SmartLists with other Palm applications. For example,
the Date Book Plug-In that ships with SmartList To Go, allows users to look
up to either the built-in Date Book application or to Beyond Contacts (the
Outlook® synchronization product from DataViz.)
- Provide SmartLists a way to make use of special hardware such as barcode scanners or cameras. A Plug-In could integrate with a camera on a Treo.
- Make additional features available to SmartLists. For example, the Timer Plug-In that ships with SmartList To Go provides SmartLists with stopwatch features.
Available Plug-Ins
The Timer Plug-In, Checklist Plug-In and Date Book Plug-In
are included with SmartList To Go. You can download these and other Plug-Ins
using the links below. Just click on the link to open the Plug-In file, which
is a Palm application. Double-click on the file to add it your Install Tool.
The Plug-In will be available within SmartList To Go after the next HotSync
operation. For more information on Plug-Ins, please see the SmartList To Go
Handheld Reference Guide, which is available under the Help menu in the SmartList
To Go Desktop. Please note that Plug-Ins are considered third-party applications
and technical support is only available for the three Plug-Ins that ship with
SmartList To Go (Checklist, Date Book, and Timer).
Checklist Plug-In for SmartList To Go
The Checklist Plug-In allows you to maintain a checklist within a single record in a SmartList.
Date Book Plug-In for SmartList To Go
The Date Book Plug-In that ships with SmartList To Go, allows users to look up to either the built-in Date Book application or to Beyond Contacts™ (the Outlook ® synchronization product from DataViz ®.)
Timer Plug-In for SmartList To Go
The Timer Plug-In that ships with SmartList To Go provides SmartLists with stopwatch features.
SubString Plug-In for SmartList To Go
This Plug-In provides a sub-string function for SmartLists. It allows you to specify a start position and a number of characters and then copies that portion of a Text field into a results Text field.
Barcode Display Plug-In for SmartList To Go
This Plug-In can generate the image of a barcode from a universal product code (UPC). The Plug-In will take the contents of a specified Text field and generate the image of a barcode on the screen. Currently, only 12 digit UPC codes (with no spaces, hyphens, etc.) are supported.
