I learned about DataViz at the Career Fair at the University of Massachussets at Amherst where I graduated in 1999 with a degree as a Computer Systems Engineer. I am originally from Tanzania and had moved to the United States 10 years ago.

I started working at DataViz shortly after my graduation, starting on June 15th, 1999. I accepted DataViz’s offer over two other companies mainly because of its great work environment and the endless opportunities for me to grow professionally and personally.

While I was in school, I had done an internship with a big company for three summers. While I was there, I felt like a number, even the full-time employees felt the same. I did not want to be in that kind of environment when I graduated. When I came to DataViz for an on-site interview, I liked the size of the company. I was very impressed that everyone knew each other, and that the company really does have a team structured environment. As a young engineer just coming into the real world, I was also impressed with the products manufactured by DataViz and the access to the newest and the best in technology.

My initial responsibilities as a Software Engineer was to fix bugs and add new support in existing products. Since then I have had opportunity to work with new product development from the beginning to the end. Slideshow To Go was one of the projects that I was involved with from start to finish. I am currently involved with two new exciting projects.

Working at DataViz is a lot of fun!
